1975 929 Coupe
Hi guys.
Sorry for writing in English, I hope some or all of you understand me.
My name is Gordon, I come from Scotland but I am living in Austria. I am a lover of old Mazdas (in particular 1970s).
Before I left the UK I sold my collection of Mazdas and now I am looking for LHD models in Austria/ Europe.
There are quite a lot available (especially in Netherlands, Belgium and Greece it seems) but they are mostly very expensive.
Anyway, I discovered this advert for a very cool car in France, at a very good price. I have been emailing the seller for 2 weeks now and everything seemed fine, but in the last few days there have been some strange things in the emails which made me a bit suspicious. I think it may be a scam. Which sucks.
Anyway, I studied the pictures closely and I think the car is actually Norwegian. There is stickers in the window which I think are Norwegian, and there is a street sign in one of the images which I think is also Norwegian (so not just a Norwegian car, but the photographs were taken in Norway!)
I am NOT suggesting that someone in Norway is scamming me, only that perhaps someone has found these pictures on the internet and is using them to try and run a scam.
I am writing today to see if anyone here knows of this car or recognises it.
I would be grateful for any input.
Thanks,
Gordon
Stickers in Norwegian?
And street sign - also Norwegian?

Re: 1975 929 Coupe
Pretty sure it is a scam. There is no reason for anyone to export a car from norway to the rest of europe, as the car prices here are much higher than elsewhere. I have seen the same thing on other forums, where norwegian cars are used in scam ads outside norway.
That car would go for atleast 2000 euros, if not 2500 here in norway.

Thanks Zepticon.
I am 99.99% sure too.
It seems to be a big problem on French websites, because many of the scammers are from West Africa where French is commonly spoken.
When I saw the street sign (Gjelder snuplass) I guessed it had never left Norway, and these are just images found on the internet.
He has gone quiet since I started asking difficult questions.. I'll ask for some pictures of the car taken in France
I have reported the advert too. It's a shame - very cool car
Thanks again.

Re: 1975 929 Coupe
I remember these pitctures from a car ad. on FINN.NO for about three years ago.
Re: 1975 929 Coupe
Thanks Vidar!
It would be great if the details of this scam became known to the current owner. I guess the owner is not on this forum? These must be quite rare in Norway nowadays.
I would love confirmation that the car is still in Norway.
I am playing along with the scam at the moment, for no other reason than to waste his time

Re: 1975 929 Coupe
Ask the seller for the VIN Nr. (Chassi number) and send it to me on a pm or post here and I will personaly check up the last owner if it in fact is real, but I highly doubt it, like Zepticon said about prices..

I'll ask him. I will also ask for photographs of the car in France. That should cause him some problems

Re: 1975 929 Coupe
Me and "Vidar" just discussed that the car have had an Vehicle inspection control in 2011 in Norway, and if anyone exported the car since then is very doubtfully.flectron wrote:Thanks FIS-X!

EDIT: I didn't notice on my phone, but the license plate is on but the picture is messed with..
But by the looks, it seems to be from a car over here.

He has not sent any more pictures of the car in France, and now he wants me to pay in advance by Western Union to Benin, West Africa.
